About

About Backed and Built

Backed and Built helps nonprofit organizations strengthen funding capacity through disciplined strategy, consistent execution, and practical systems. We work with mission-driven teams who want a clear pipeline, stronger proposals, and a repeatable approach to grants and corporate partnerships.

Our Purpose

Our purpose is simple: help nonprofits move from sporadic funding attempts to a sustainable, organized, and measurable funding engine. That means building the right pipeline, telling the story with clarity, meeting deadlines with confidence, and maintaining systems your team can keep using long-term.

Meet Sean Morgan

Backed and Built is led by Sean Morgan, a strategic, data-driven fundraising professional with a record of building revenue and funding infrastructure across nonprofit, healthcare, and higher education organizations. Sean has secured $6M+ through major gifts, grants, sponsorships, and integrated campaigns, helping mission-driven teams strengthen funding pipelines and execute with consistency.

In his current work, Sean leads organization-wide revenue strategy for a mission-driven organization, supporting diversified fundraising across individual giving, corporate partnerships, institutional funding, campaigns, and earned revenue. He is known for improving donor acquisition and retention, strengthening stewardship, and implementing practical systems that increase visibility, accountability, and operational efficiency.

Previously, Sean served as Associate Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations at Temple University, managing a portfolio of 50+ institutional funders and securing $1.15M+ for Temple Health and the Lewis Katz School of Medicine. He directed the full grant lifecycle, from prospect research and proposal development to stewardship, reporting, and compliance, while partnering with senior leadership to align funding requests with strategic priorities.

Sean’s background also includes leading sponsorship and corporate partnership growth at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he managed 100+ corporate and foundation relationships and delivered 68% growth in corporate support, as well as earlier work generating $1.2M in Division I university sponsorships, including major naming-rights agreements.

In addition to his consulting work, Sean is the Co-Founder and CEO of Kingdom Youth Network, where he leads strategic growth, partnership development, grant reporting, and board development to support long-term sustainability.

How We Work

We combine strategy with execution. You get structured planning, clear communication, and consistent follow-through, so your team knows what’s happening, what’s next, and what’s needed to hit deadlines.

  • Clear priorities: we focus on the opportunities most aligned with your programs and readiness
  • Strong writing: proposals that are funder-aligned, outcomes-focused, and easy to review
  • Reliable systems: trackers, calendars, and shared workspaces that reduce chaos and missed deadlines
  • Accountability: regular check-ins and status updates so progress is visible and measurable

Who We Work Best With

  • Nonprofits with a clear mission, active programs, and measurable outcomes
  • Teams that can provide budgets, program details, and required attachments on time
  • Decision-makers who want consistent momentum, not one-off submissions
  • Organizations ready to build repeatable processes and strengthen long-term capacity

A Note on Funding Outcomes

Funding is competitive and depends on funder priorities, eligibility, timing, and organizational readiness. Backed and Built does not guarantee awards; we provide strategy, execution support, and capacity-building to improve competitiveness and consistency.
